Edit: can’t be, it says “brake not pressed” is a condition of the recuperation working. Must be using engine braking to regenerate power during coasting then I guess? Manual doesn’t really say exactly how it works.

Yes, I think that's how it works. What I thought was regen braking was just the auto gearbox bropping down a gear by it's self, and the additional engine braking that would result from that.
