As others have mentioned, there are no rod bearing issues with the S52. What you do need to look out for on that motor however is the oil pump nut. It can come undone, and the engine will starve for oil. If you do wind up getting one of these cars, make sure the oil pump nut gets some loctite or similar done to it.
Dang, never heard anyone actually hate the E46 M3 before. I love the way they look, but I personally prefer either the E92 M3 or Z4M over them.

So just to get it right. You bought it, hated it, blew it up and then sold it within a month??
