Haven't (needed to) try but the instruction says as long as the starter motor can rotate the engine, keep pressing the start button while selecting N on the gear lever. Release both and the gearbox shall stay in neutral.
Have no idea what to do if power is lost, but then my parking brake is probably also engaged.
