I really can't complain. I have had adequate power in almost four years of owning BMW phevs (330e, then 530e) including passing on a steep hill at speeds that would incite a state trooper. But I still would have liked to see BMW pair the electric motor with one of the regular ICE engines (250+ HP).

But it would be nice if BMW tried to compete at the performance end, not just at the gas savings end.

I do like my 530e and will keep it. But I would have been tempted to trade in if the new 330e had the bigger ICE.
I think it would be fun if BMW provided performance oriented hybrids but the market just doesn't respond. Look at the RLX hybrid, LS600h, GS450h, Q50h, Volvo T8 models, or the older BMW ActiveHybrids. Too few customers will pay a premium for performance hybrids. Only the models which offer hybrids close to the same price points as petrol only models sell well, such as the ES350h and MKZ Hybrid.
