I really like the open-pore oak trim, I feel like it's a very clean look. I didn't want a brown wood trim because I felt like that would compete with the mocha color and saturate the cabin with too much brown, so the black-wood look really gives it good clean contrast without being too noisy. It's also got just enough texture to show that it is in fact a wood-based trim and not just a matte black.
In regards to various lighting, since it doesn't have any gloss, it doesn't provide much reflection, so the look stays relatively consistent regardless of different lighting conditions.
The other option I considered was the aluminum tetragon trim, but I liked the classiness of the open-pore oak. I felt it gave the 3 series interior a bit more upscale look.
