I'd be all for it, but only if it wasn't intrusive. The electrical assistance would need to be helping in the background, with the internal combustion feel of the car remaining.
Of course, to assist with fuel economy and acceleration times, they could stop making the cars the size of houses. If the E36 was a two bedder in the city, the E9x was a three bedroom suburban townhouse, and the G80 is a five bedroom mansion in the hills.
