The BT module/data cable is used for map switching, obtaining logs etc on the JB4 app. The OBD2 cable has to be plugged in. It's not a one time thing. I remember reading somewhere that the JB4 will work without the OBD2 cable but then, it defaults to map 1 without it. To run other maps, it has to be plugged in. I could be wrong. I read this a long time ago. I haven't tried running it without it plugged in since I don't plug in a reader into the port all the time. When I need to plug in my enet cable, I unplug the JB4 cable as needed.
