I highly doubt that customers that are considering silver, a rather conservative and subtle color, are potential buyers of individual colors.
Cost-saving argument seems false because silver and red are still on offer for non-M sport cars. There is no additional cost of enabling them for the M-sport cars. All of these cars are painted and produced in the same factory.
