After the update is applied, the apps need to update. If it's not doing it automatically, force update it. Go to the apps screen, open the menu to the left (like in your picture where it says car play) then hit the physical options button by the gear shift and select update.
The iDrive update doesn't contain android auto itself, so what does it actually say when you run the app update?
Does the connected app on your phone say the update is complete?
