Yes, I remember this. Back in 2000 when the E46 first came out I still had an E36 and got a E46 323i as a loaner. It had incredibly light steering (for a BMW at least) and was definitely over-boosted. Looking back today I'd take it over any of the modern steering racks when it comes to feedback, but I still miss my E36,46 and wife's E90 steering.

Sad to see that back in the day BMW would actually listen to that feedback and quickly make changes. Meanwhile today, its officially been an entire decade of electric steering in BMW's, and they've been ignoring the very loud criticism since day 1.
