I topped up the rest (up to max) with 5W-30 LL-01 that I bought from the dealer. They said pretty much any fully synthetic oil is safe up to 1 liter, so the LL-04 I initially added shouldn't be an issue.

That's interesting. I wonder what oil the car came with from the factory?
Was the oil you bought from the dealer BMW branded or another brand? I'm glad to hear they use 5W-30 and not 0W-20 because of our warmer Australian weather.
