Cool video. BMW does so much testing at the Ring, it helps explain the great dynamics of M cars.
It's sad but perhaps inevitable they are moving the rear brake to a single piston sliding caliper. I'm not surprised as the Merc GT-R has this same setup, but it's a downgrade vs the F8X brakes.
Won't be a big issue for me as my Ms exist for the track and it'll get a full BBK before its first track day.
Also nice to have confirmation an auto+RWD option is coming. It would have sucked if it were only 6MT+RWD vs Auto+AWD. Still, the track worthiness of the ZF is TBD.
Questions I have open on the G8X generation:
-How much will the RWD+Auto weigh?
-Does the Auto hold up to serious tracking with slicks?
-How much will the RWD+6MT weigh?
-How many gs does the oiling system take? 1.4g like the E9X or 1.3g like the F8X?
-Have they fixed the fuel starvation issue they already fixed in the E9X, then broke for the F8X gen?
-As the chassis is designed for AWD, what tire/wheel widths does it accomodate?
-Will the CSL/GTS get a proper DCT instead of the ZF?
Things I don't care about in the G8X:
-Front end aesthetics
-The sound. It's a turbo car and they all sound like crap. I'm not going to debate whether it's a 2/10 or a 3/10. It's crap.
