Just tried my 12 Pro Max with MagSafe clear Apple case in my 2021 G20 330i and no issues either with fit or charging.
I believe iOS 14.2 may help as one fix states 'Devices could be prevented from charging wirelessly'.
Very pleased as was concerned.
