I believe that Apple car play is wireless only. You select it when you pair your Apple phone with iDrive. |

I didn't opt for the wireless charging option so I'm not sure if I have the wireless CarPlay. My dealer says I do have it though so not sure |
Two separate systems, you need to enable CarPlay within idrive settings. Also enable the use of WiFi and Bluetooth in your phone connection to the car
