I have a 530e. I like spirited driving but I also like to protect the environment. Furthermore, I have the ability to charge in my garage and I work from home so I can recharge during the day.
My compromise is I do mostly pure EV driving in local driving and I drive in auto mode in a spirited manner when less urban roads permit. With a 12.4 gallon tank, I have been getting between 700 and 1,000 miles on a tank (currently at half a tank and almost 500 miles driven).
I have never run out of boost. I do sometimes deliberately save battery capacity if my car is going to sit in the sun for an extended period so I can ensure that I have enough battery capacity to use my phone to start the AC. One of my favorite features.
