The roads are only snow covered after its been snowing. The rest of the season they are dry (it's just cold). That's why I prefer to get "performance winter tires" so there isn't much of a change in handling and performance. It's funny because although there's a lot of salt on the road, my car is probably cleaner more in the winter than it is in the summer. I usually get a few touchless washes throughout the week, and then get it hand washed every two weeks. Never really been concerned about rust since I don't keep cars for that long, and they are for the most part built to withstand this type of environment (heck they are German vehicles so they know cold/snow there lol).
