Auto / Manual

At the risk of being sacreligious in this company - I have to say that the reason I use "manual" mode on my car - and by this I mean the paddles, is so that I can change gear when I want; and not when the car / computer wants.
The reason I used to like clutched, traditional manual transmissions is because autos were clunky and slow - as evidenced by their 0-60 times -- always a couple of tenths slower than the proper manual box.
But since the 335i (DCT) and now my 440i (not DCT but see below) the auto box in "manual" mode is faster, slicker and easier to use. I can left-foot brake all the time which gives me faster reactions on the brakes and the paddles are intuitive. Also, now, the 0-60 is faster on the auto box.
Around town when I'm not racing, and just sitting in traffic the auto box saves a load of clutch up-and-down and just makes life easier.
I honestly don't see why I'd want to go back to an H-gate stick shift. What would I gain??
