I've struggled so much with this over the years - even managed to convince BMW to give me a new wheel for my 530e...an engineer advised me that the stitching where your thumb sits, above volume control, can come undone. I was told if this happens they'll authorise a new steering wheel under warranty! Mine "came undone" just before my next service! and true to their word a new wheel was fitted.

I'll def try the autoglym on the new car (330e touring) from the off. I know someone who used washing up liquid and a soft brush - cleaned it fine but also dried the leather out and it looked horrific after a few months!!!
I guess it depends on mileage but for me, doing 2-3k a month, i do a clean once a month and condition after but find the wheel eventually goes shiny and once its gone i can't seem to get it back.
