Outside of the US, M sport pack variants going back to the F3x cars would have a little standalone M on the side signifying they were M sport, while I do agree the ///Marketing dilutes the M brand, it is not anything new really, just like the M mirror caps and other past M specific qualities trickle down to lower end models. This has been a common practice with automakers since the start of time, ranging from options and tech features. It is not ideal and not the way I would market it, but if this is what it takes to keep a manual gas powered M car on sale, it is a sacrifice I am happy to take.
