I have a 2020 M340i. I bought a mirror tap kit to go with my Escort 360Max radar detector.

I'm having problems getting it to work. I've read the guide posted on here and have watched multiple videos. When I tap into the connector, I'm putting the red tap wire into the blue/red mirror wire socket and the black tap wire into the brown/black mirror wire socket, which is exactly where the guide posted on here said to put the tap wires.

When I start the car, I got warning messages about almost every system in the car failing - power steering, braking system, driver assistance, etc. - as you can imagine, this was not a fun experience.

And on top of that, I got no power at all to the radar detector. When I plug the detector in to the power cable, the main display (where speedometer located etc) went black. When I unplugged the detector, it came back on.

Fortunately after putting everything back to normal and checking for blown fuses (BMW really doesn't want people looking at the fuses - the ones I needed were almost inaccessible), everything worked fine and the warning messages went away.

But I'm wondering what the heck I'm doing wrong with the wiring for this radar detector?! Any ideas? Any help will be much appreciated.
