I made a mistake in not checking the ambient lighting box when I ordered mine and I wish I had. With that said, I don't know if doing surgery on the car is a good idea. Are the wiring connections there? What about how you'd control it in iDrive if the functionality is not there? Could it be that you'd need entirely new door panels? These are the questions that come to my mind.
