This is the direction the industry is headed to. The next generation of drivers are more interested in screens and an 'immersive' digital experience behind the wheel, which probably makes sense as the steering wheel won't be used as much with autonomous driving and you need to do something while the car drives it self, hence a large screen to look at
It's not a BMW problem, it's an industry and generation evolution, whether enthusiasts like it or not.
