My father would only finance a car for three years and kept them for 10. He would put his payment in savings for the remainder 7 years and when he got close to retirement, he paid cash for his last two he bought before passing. I am trying this now and have a 09 7 series I am about to sell. Of course I am all over the place on what to buy and am looking at M340i, used M5 or the new G80 when it arrives. Whatever I buy, it will be financed and am putting down at 20 to 30% and keeping a minimum of 7 years.
