Here in BC, because basic auto must be purchased from the government insurer (ICBC), auto insurance also pays for our driver and vehicle licensing system, as well as certain road improvements, Counter-Attack, etc. Even with that, my wife and I are paying less than you are for her 2010 A3 and my 2016 M235i and I do have an at fault accident from 2012 on my record.
it's frivolous law suits that are killing it, sooooo many hidden costs here. Things look cheap but then you get hit with Auto insurance and land tax and i am out $11K a year before i fucking blink.
