I would go with the HMRC as they tax you rather the lease company but up to you who you believe.
My tax code along with a few others has been changed to reflect the 41 miles, HMRC did this without any prompting from me. My last year P11D only shows the model and emissions not the range so they must have based their decision on other data

Absolutely HMRC
But being taxed at source means my payroll being responsible for taxing and they are reliant on info given to them from lease company
I will continue to challenge by pointing them at HMRCs method of calculating tax.
