Some legacy settings might causes such kind of issue which might not work by just reboot (press 30 sec) the iDrive.

Thanks for all the help guys. I tried the factory reset but still it didn't work with my GalaxyA7. However I was able to borrow a Samsung S10 (with Android 10) and it worked like a charm! So it seems that, despite what BMW says, the Samsung A-series phones, even with an updated Android 10, can't connect.
