I’ve visited the Oregon beaches several times, also central and Northern California. For me, on the west coast, strong preference is Oregon (Lincoln City area) because I like the pounding waves, rocky coast and sound of the ocean more than sun and heat.

Have also visited Florida panhandle beaches in winter, when crowds are small, and liked the white sand, clear water, dolphins, etc. Would prefer more surf sound but it is adequate in a condo on the beach.

Liked VA Beach about as much as FL panhandle, although was in Virginia Beach in summer. Also visited coasts of Maine, NH, MA, RI, CT and prefer north of Boston except the winters are harsh and the prices (to buy coastal property) high. But love the rocky coastline and surf!

Years ago was in Biloxi (before casinos) and S. Padre Island, TX and liked both, but as I’ve gotten older I don’t tolerate the heat and crowds as well.

A favorite area to visit is the California coast between Santa Barbara and Monterrey Peninsula. Great views, surf, wildlife, and reasonably quiet for CA.
Did you ever go to Pfeiffer Beach near Big Sur? It is drop dead gorgeous. Those huge rock formations and wild surf. Breathtaking!
