Just a little fyi - the Check Engine Light always indicates some emissions related value has gone out of spec. It can be any of a thousand things that causes it. It can be from a one time event and if it is the light will clear itself after five or six operation cycles. Leaving the gas cap off is one example. I once had a little transmission hiccup on a very cold morning and it caused a CEL. The light cleared itself. As in this case with a bad NVLD module in many, if not most, cases the car can be driven without harming the motor. Just a little fyi that a CEL is rarely a reason to panic.
