Since cars are so cheap in the US, a lot of international students from well to do families end up purchasing high end cars. an M4 here in the states is about the same price as a Toyota Corolla in say, Malaysia or Indonesia. I did my undergrad at Purdue (class of 2007) and we had a large group of Indonesian students driving Porsches, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, etc.
