BMW's new designs are likely a reaction to stagnant US market share and an attempt to gain a new audience looking for a new & unique look / brand
While some of the current designs are not my favourites, I can appreciate BMW for at least trying. Audi and Mercedes designs are just too safe making them too boring - can't emotionally get attached to it.

The big grilles I don't necessarily have an issue with - the application of it is overdone. If BMW closely followed 3.0CSL concept/grille, the 4er would have been an absolute winner.
