If you have iDrive 7 you can add a personal avatar that pops up in your profile page and it allows you to do OTA upgrades via your smartphone using home WiFi which is much quicker & reliable than using the cars inbuilt SIM card 3/4 G connection
I suspect we are getting an OTA upgrade soon as BMW made a big announcement about a worldwide OTA recently in the motoring press
