TTV8s are junk too. First gen N63 spins bearings (and usually cracks the block in the process), eats valve stem seals (like the N62), and use the expensive and problematic pizeo injectors, not to mention with timing chain stretch and all the leaks they have.

N63tu and newer may suffer the same fate. S63s blow up in a similar fashion but you don't hear about it often. I know two people who spun bearings in their F10M's but don't shout from the roof tops about it like the those in 550i's and X5 50i's who expect reliability from their expensive-ish daily driver.

Can pay for rod bearings and do the TA's on an S65 and be relatively free of problems but also be 4k in the hole. Meanwhile, BMW is voluntarily replacing 120k mile N63s for oil consumption out of a lawsuit and new longblocks are only $3k (albeit with waiting list). Not saying one option is better than the other; I'm looking to move into a S65 soon but a E70 50i at the same time would make a nice tow rig/dd if I finessed a new motor for it.
