Very similar for me. I don't do dinner or anything ambitious for the meet-and-greet first "date," which I don't really consider to be a date; it's more like a meeting to see if there should be a first date.
I usually shoot for 30-45 minutes. I've had them go a few hours, though, if I'm not booked elsewhere and the conversation's fun and easy.
I try to maintain a conversational tone, but I ask some probing questions. I'm there to get an impression of their character and some answers to questions that are deal-breakers for me (and might be for her too). I can be direct without it feeling like an interrogation. If they're dodgy with their answers, then we're done.
