I've watched a documentary recently on the Munich factory where this car is built. There is a track near the factory where they take the car on a single hot-lap to discover any potential mechanical faults or leaks caused during factory assembly. The break-in period should still be observes set all the gasket/sealing points, to allow the cams/lobes/springs to settle, to allow the cylinder wall linings to wear evenly, to allow all of rubber/metallic hosing between turbos and radiators to seat at their connections points and to allow the entire engine as a whole to settle through multiple hot/cold cycles. I simply do not understand why someone can't chill out for a thousand miles to allow the process.
