I don't think you're really going to gain that much ride comfort downsizing from 19" to 18" than if you were going from 20" to 19". My car came with the stock 19x8 square setup w/225/40 RTFs, and I recently upgraded to 19x8.5 square w/235/40 Michelin PS4Ss. The ride wasn't bad with the stock set up, but the larger tire size and non-RFT have really made the ride much more comfortable. Running 235/40s on 19x8.5s would already give you more meat on the tires than stock, and I know BarryB is running 245/40s without rubbing on his fronts. The only reason I would ever even consider 18's is if the roads will really, really bad and littered with sharp potholes.
Do the stock rims fit your new 19x8.5 ps4s?
