Presumably BMW knows what it is doing as its sales have been climbing in the US. However, I think it may be shortsighted in this regard.

It may not sell a lot of station wagons in the US but its competitors do sell them and once someone gets in a company's car, the person usually sticks with that company's cars. So BMW may lose some sales to MB and Audi which initially is no big deal but they could also lose these customers forever.

My thought is that BMW could sell them as an order only item. So dealerships don't need to stock slow moving station wagons.

But...this is all a dream. I will wake up soon.
