Oh man. No way. That is insane. Might just be California, but when I think of it, it really isn't as much of an issue here. It was a lot worse with rock chips when I lived in Utah, I would be much more inclined to do so there as it was a frequent occurrence. See you're in the bay area, would imagine it is similar. Maybe you could just ask yourself how bad it has been with previous cars?
