The issue with the the current xDrive in the M5 that I've had some complaints from clients is that you cannot go into RWD for just normal day to day driving. You have to turn traction control completely off to go into RWD which makes it dangerous for spirited street driving.

If they can make it where you can truly choose RWD without compromising safety then I can see your statement being true.
