Typically you have the option to refuse the delivery of the car when it arrives, for any reason. If the dealer believes that they can quickly sell the car, because it may appeal a greater audience, they will not even ask for a deposit (my case). If you ordered a really unique color, that the dealer thinks it would be hard to sell if you don't buy, they may ask for a higher deposit, to ensure you're not going to shy away from accepting the car.
