iDrive 7.0 is the latest version (not in 2 series, only new G-series vehicles currently) and is very buggy. Some of the bugs include Apple Carplay. Search through the G05 X5 forum or find any newer BMW review on Youtube and you'll see what I'm talking about. Corded carplay would simply solve the issue.
