It's a principle grounded in heritage and authenticity, not politics or prejudice.
It's prejudice wrapped as heritage and authenticity, actually.

Every country in the world should continue doing whatever is "their thing" in your mind then, I suppose.
You can wordsmith all day long.
My German cars will always be made in Germany.
And I like that countries have their "thing."
That's why they are countries.
I suppose in your mind that should disappear and we should live in a global world without borders, a sense of national pride, or identity, where corporations rule the way and the cheapest labor market wins production of any kind. In that scenario kiss your factory good bye as it just moved to Asia.
If that happens, I'll gladly switch to a Japanese brand made in, you guessed it, Japan!
I also drive an hour to NYC to get traditional Japanese sushi made by, you guessed it, Japanese sushi chefs.
If I crave Mexican food, nothing beats the local neighborhood joint nor will I experiment anywhere else.
Authenticity rules the day.
I am not sorry if that offends you.
