Also, it kind of looks like different days/temperatures.

Not saying the M340 cannot scoot fast as hell, but nothing about this is near scientific.

Oh and I forgot, regardless of whether an AWD M340 is fast in straight line, take them both to the same track or the same canyon and tell me with a straight face you would rather have the M340 than an actual M car.

We went to an M Track Days at Thermal with BMWCCA back in January and I drove both back to back on their autocross course and the deficiencies on the M340 in comparison to the M2C in control, planted feeling, capability is very apparent.

Though the M340 was not a bad car all said. Definitely better than previous 335/340s compared to their respective M iterations.

Probably going to get shit on for this post, so let me just say that this is my subjective opinion, and I concede that the M340 is definitely quick.
I won't crap on you for your opinion. I think people get caught up in "this is better than that" when in reality, most of us car guys want them both. I've driven the M2C and when I drove it I loved every bit of the performance aspect of it. I immediately felt like I was in a race car and it drove and handled like a race car. Fast, light, quick handling, and was fun as f*ck. I was in love with it for the short time I drove it but there were things I didn't like about it. It doesn't by any means make it a bad or less good car than the M340i I wound up with but for me, it wasn't the right car. I have autocrossed an M340i and it was really impressive but would the M2C been more fun? Most likely but I don't autocross anymore so back to the everyday awesomeness of the M340.

The M2C was small and cramped. It's a small car and that's part of what makes it good but it's not what I wanted for a DD and I have a kid which the M2 doesn't accommodate as well as the M340. The M2C was awesome at being a race car on the street but I don't want that feeling in a DD. It's just not for me. To me, and probably everyone who has one, the M340 is the best blend of power, performance, tech, sport, comfort, size, and price that BMW offers the enthusiast right now. It does so many things so well.

The M2C is probably the best "pure" M car right now and I would love one. If I won the lottery I'd probably get one but it wouldn't be my only car. The M340 is the best overall BMW right now. They're both good. They're just made for different purposes.

Did I mention I want them both?
