To each his own. Of course it could just be a selectable no-cost option which upholstery you prefer.

It's also a bit strange in my mind equating "luxury" and "premium" with leather. They could just as well put some cheap feeling leather in there by standard or just add the option on top of the base price and call it "included", would that make it better in your eyes?
I am not sure that material made highly toxic chemical that some are extracted from oil are that much more sustainable.

My F31 did came with leather included it’s a cheap leather but it’s feel better than leatherette. I find it strange that you now have to pay an extra to get it. If it would be a no-cost option i woudn’t complain but in that particular case it just appear to be nickel and diming from bmw.
