I believe I have the same wheels as you. They are lovely wheels.
I've sanded out my rash but it has left the allloy area concerned a little dull. I could just coat with polish and/or ceramic but I was wondering if the wheels initially had a top-coat of clear lacquer? If so I'd do that first.
If you do manage to find rim-protectors drop me a PM as I too can see this happening again. The wheels are low-profile so line up with the curb and the tyres not fat enough to protect. I have the run-flats, maybe that's why there's no bulge in the tyre like a normal tyre.
