Before you do it use as fine a wet and dry sandpaper you can get 2500 or greater will help give it a really smooth surface and better shine of the dull surface.

I agree with @Tam the Bam! After using my Dremel tool with 400 grit wheel, I then used 1500 & finally 3000 grit sandpaper. You can then use something like Brasso and wipe with Isoprpyl Alcohol (at least 71%) before clear coating.
