The current F30 also has Hill hold but its more of a "Hill Start Assist" which hold the brakes for 3-5 seconds to get onto the gas and start.
I don't think it will be hold forever like the current VAG products (VW, Audi, etc). which sit there holding forever with no brake lights as well.
This way at least you get some brake info!
