In this decade, luxury only means cramming as much tech into a car as possible. Looks and works great for a few years, but who cares about longevity down the road when the car gets dumped after three years and replaced by a facelifted model with a newer infotainment system.

Very true, MB spent $1B in development on W140 and let the engineers have a field day and was heavily criticized for being over engineered.
As for the W220, this recent article tells all you need to know about it, and how the tech brought a huge downside to ownership of the car.
