Regardless the M340i is not a direct competitor to the RS3. People mention M2 since it's the smallest M car BMW makes today. M2 is far more sports oriented than an RS3 as well. RS3 barely out performs the G42 with the B58 engine. In the end BMW really has no true competitor for the RS3 since G87 doesn't come with AWD but regardless of that G87 should be the better driver's car based on how the G42 XI compares with the RS3.
I don't see the appeal of an RS3 but then again I am not a fan of AWD nor Audi cars in general except for aesthetics on a few of them.
