You will get less interference with a dyed film, and seeing as you are in MN you will most likely notice the dimming a lot more.

Now keep in mind that even dyed film will cause some dimming if you go too dark, but comparatively it's not as bad. If you go 25% or less you will still notice some dimming, it's just not as noticeable.
