Pretty sure they wouldn't have blocked the original fuel cap door without an alternative. Look at the black circle underneath the rear window, that looks to be the new fuel port. |
You've missed the point a bit.
Yeah, obviously that's now no longer in use hence the new port. The point is, it just looks like half a job.
